Eco Glass Structures are part of the Bowker Group of companies. Many Conservatories will have perfectly fine PVCu or Timber windows to the lower structure but the roof will have problems such as leaks, polycarbonate discolouration, or just generally be in a poor state of repair. Other common problems include the lack of any heat retentive or heat reflective properties, making the room too hot or too cold to use on a daily basis. We are proud to use Pilkington and other leading glass products in our replacement roofs and frames to overcome these problems.

Pilikington's Activ products are used on the outer surfaces of the double glazed units, giving a self cleaning finish to the glass. The body of the outer pane of glass is then tinted in either a Neutral Blue or Aqua shade, giving different degrees of heat reflection. The darker the tint, the better the heat reflection. We can achieve up to 90% heat reflection, keeping most of the heat out of the conservatory on the hottest days of the year. To keep the heat in on the colder days, a low E coating is applied to the inner surface of the double glazed unit. This coating acts by reflecting heat from the conservatory back into the room. To further enhance the thermal efficiency, Argon gas is pumped in-between the two panes of glass, acting like a duvet. Older double glazed units were fitted with a metal spacer bars between the two panes of glass, this caused heat loss due to conduction across the unit. To mitigate this a composite spacer bar is fitted which acts as a thermal break between the inner and outer panes. A U-value of 1.0 W/m2K is easily achievable.

As a major installer of conservatories (as well as uPVC windows & doors etc.) we are able to literally transform your existing conservatory with our energy efficient glass roof structures, creating a beautiful room you can use all year round and be justifiably proud. We can also convert a Lean-to conservatory to an Edwardian or Gable fronted model, providing a much larger space with a generally more aesthetically pleasing environment.
